ICAR AIEEA PG is the national-level entrance exam for postgraduate (MSc/MVSc/MFSc) admissions at Central Agricultural Universities, IARI, NDRI, and 65+ State Agricultural Universities across India. ICAR also uses this exam to award Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) for PhD research. It is the primary pathway for graduate agriculture students seeking PG education at top institutions.

ICAR AIEEA PG offers 35+ subject-specific papers covering Agronomy, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Science, Fisheries Science, and many more. Candidates choose the subject paper matching their specialisation and target PG program.

ICAR Junior Research Fellowships are awarded to top-scoring candidates in ICAR AIEEA PG in each subject category. JRF holders receive a monthly stipend for pursuing PhD research at ICAR institutes and agricultural universities. Approximately 25 JRFs are awarded per subject stream based on merit rank in the AIEEA PG examination.

ICAR AIEEA PG is considered hard, with questions testing deep understanding of undergraduate agricultural science curriculum across all semesters. The 25% negative marking (−1.25 per wrong answer with +5 for correct) makes accuracy extremely important. The broad syllabus covering 4 years of agricultural education and the competition from agriculture graduates nationwide makes thorough preparation necessary.

The most effective strategy is to systematically revise all semesters of your BSc Agriculture curriculum using ICAR-recommended textbooks and previous AIEEA PG papers. Create subject-wise concept maps and practice question banks for each topic. Given the high negative marking, target 80+ questions with high confidence rather than attempting all 120 with uncertainty. Previous AIEEA papers and subject-specific mock tests are indispensable.
