How many colleges accept MAT scores for MBA?

Over 600 AICTE-approved MBA institutes across India accept MAT scores. However, only the composite score (first 4 sections, excluding Indian & Global Environment) is used for admission. Top MAT-accepting colleges include IFIM Bangalore, BIMTECH, Jaipuria Institute, and FORE School of Management.

How many times is MAT conducted per year?

AIMA conducts MAT 4–5 times a year in February, May, September, and December. A CBT (Computer-Based Test) and IBT (Internet-Based Test) mode are offered. Best MAT score from the last 12 months is typically accepted by most colleges.

What MAT score is considered good for top colleges?

MAT scaled score is out of 800 (based on 4 sections). Scores above 600 are considered competitive for top MAT-accepting colleges. A score of 650+ typically gets shortlisted at Tier-2 B-schools. IFIM Bangalore requires 600+, and Jaipuria requires 550+.

Is MAT score valid for more than one year?

Yes, most MAT-accepting colleges accept scores from the last 12–24 months. AIMA declares the validity when releasing scores. This allows candidates to use a strong score for multiple admission cycles without re-appearing. Many colleges accept multiple MAT scores and use the best one.

How to Prepare for MAT

1

Practise all 5 sections — MAT is long (200Q in 150 min) and endurance is as important as accuracy

2

Indian & Global Environment (GK) section is not scored by most colleges, but prepare it to stay in habit

3

Focus on Data Analysis — DI sets in MAT are directly taken from business tables and graphs

4

Take advantage of MAT's multiple attempts — use the first attempt to benchmark and improve section by section
