ICF (Integral Coach Factory) in Chennai is the world's largest railway coach manufacturing facility and a production unit of Indian Railways. Trade Apprentices at ICF learn skills related to coach manufacturing including carpentry, fitting, welding, electrical wiring, painting, and upholstery. The training provides hands-on experience in a modern manufacturing environment and prepares candidates for careers in railway maintenance and coach production industries.

ICF recruits apprentices in trades including Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Carpenter, Painter, Turner, Machinist, Electronic Mechanic, PASAA (Passenger Amenity and Service Attendant), and others. The available trades change annually based on ICF's manufacturing requirements. Selection for ICF Trade Apprentice is typically merit-based using ITI marks or a written test combined with ITI marks. The written test covers ITI trade theory, Mathematics, and basic General Science. Some years, selection is purely based on ITI percentage without a written test. Completing ICF apprenticeship earns the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC), which is a nationally recognised credential for skilled workers.
