JEECUP (Joint Entrance Examination Council UP) is conducted by the Board of Technical Education Uttar Pradesh for admission to 3-year diploma programs in engineering and technology. It covers over 300 government and private polytechnic colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The exam offers admission to courses like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, and many more. There are also groups for lateral entry, pharmacy, agriculture, and fashion design. Successful candidates can later seek lateral entry to the second year of B.Tech/B.E. programs.

JEECUP Group A, which is the most popular group for engineering diploma admission, covers Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry at the Class 10 level. Mathematics topics include Number System, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, and Mensuration. Physics covers Motion, Force, Work, Energy, Light, Electricity, and Magnetism. Chemistry covers Matter, Atoms, Molecules, Acids, Bases, Metals, Non-metals, and Carbon Compounds. The paper has 60 questions in total with equal weightage to Mathematics and Science. Questions are based on NCERT Class 9 and 10 textbooks.

The JEECUP merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in the entrance exam, with equal weight given to 10th board marks in case of a tie. For Group A, 50% weightage is given to entrance test marks and 50% to qualifying examination marks in some rounds. Reservation policies for SC, ST, OBC, and other categories as per UP government norms are applied. Candidates must participate in online counseling to get their seat allotment.
