What is the JNUEE exam pattern for PhD/MPhil admissions?

JNUEE is now conducted by NTA as a CBT with 100 questions worth 400 marks (4 marks per question, −1 penalty). The paper consists of domain-specific subject questions and a research aptitude section testing understanding of research methods, academic writing, and critical analysis. Different schools (Social Sciences, Life Sciences, International Studies, Physical Sciences, Language, Literature) have separate papers. The exam is conducted twice a year in some schools and once a year for others.

JNU's School of Life Sciences (SLS) is highly competitive and offers PhD programs in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Structural Biology, and Developmental Biology. The school selects candidates through JNUEE written test followed by a research interview. CSIR/DBT/ICMR JRF holders can directly apply for interview. What is the viva/interview process at JNU after JNUEE?

Candidates shortlisted through JNUEE are called for an interview/viva conducted by the respective school's faculty committee. For Social Sciences and Humanities, the interview may involve discussing contemporary debates in the field. The final merit list is based on 75% weight to written test and 25% to interview performance (weightage varies by school).
