How does GATE score factor into NHPC Trainee Engineer selection?

NHPC uses GATE scores to shortlist candidates for the written test stage. After the written test, shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview. What is the salary for NHPC Trainee Engineers?

NHPC Trainee Engineers are placed in the E1 Grade with a starting basic pay of Rs. 40,000 per month under the IDA pay scale. The total CTC including HRA, Field Allowance for project site postings, and other perquisites is approximately Rs. 8–10 lakh per annum. NHPC projects are located in remote hydroelectric project sites in the Himalayas, North-East, and other regions, and postings to these sites attract Project Allowance. Pay revision occurs every five years.

Yes, NHPC requires Trainee Engineers to serve a bond period of two years from the date of joining. The bond amount is approximately Rs. 1–2 lakh and is recoverable if the candidate leaves during the bond period.
