The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is the primary agency responsible for food procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP), storage of strategic food reserves, and distribution of food grains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and PDS. An FCI Agriculture Officer (Grade II) supervises procurement operations at mandis, coordinates with state government procurement agencies, monitors grain quality during procurement, oversees warehouse management, and ensures proper storage to minimise wastage. FCI Agriculture Officer is a central government position with all-India posting. The exam is conducted by FCI directly or through SSC and is based on a written test plus interview process. State Agriculture Service exams (like Punjab AO, MPSC Agriculture Officer) are state government posts with state-based posting but may offer better long-term career stability in home state.
