The Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) Van Rakshak exam has 100 objective questions carrying 100 marks, to be solved in 90 minutes. It covers General Studies, Hindi, Forest & Environment, and Mathematics sections. The exam is conducted online in CBT format. There is no negative marking, and candidates should attempt all questions.

Uttarakhand Van Rakshaks patrol forest beats in the Himalayan and Shivalik ranges, preventing poaching, illegal logging, and forest fires. They enforce Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and Forest Conservation Act 1980 in tiger reserves and national parks. Physical requirements include male height of 163 cm with chest 79-84 cm and female height of 150 cm. The physical efficiency test includes running and other endurance assessments to ensure guards can work in mountain terrain.

Uttarakhand Van Rakshaks receive a monthly salary of Rs. 18,000-25,000 in the applicable state pay matrix, plus Uttarakhand government allowances including hill allowance for postings in difficult areas. The position offers job security, government accommodation at remote forest postings, medical benefits, and NPS pension after retirement. Study Uttarakhand geography and environment extensively: Himalayan geography, rivers, glaciers, forest types, and biodiversity. Focus on forest conservation topics, Chipko movement history, and current conservation efforts in Uttarakhand. Practise Hindi grammar and mathematics from standard Class 10 level books. Regularly practising UKSSSC-pattern mock tests builds time management skills. Physical fitness preparation should run parallel to academic study given the demanding physical efficiency test.
