JIPMAT is conducted by NTA for admission to the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya, while IPMAT is conducted by IIM Indore for admission to IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, and IIM Ranchi. JIPMAT offers 150 minutes for 100 questions (more generous time), whereas IPMAT gives 90 minutes. Both have similar sections and marking schemes.

JIPMAT syllabus covers three sections: Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (includes number systems, algebra, geometry, data tables, charts), Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (grammar, vocabulary, passages), and Logical Reasoning (puzzles, syllogisms, coding, sequences). The difficulty level is broadly comparable to IPMAT and CAT-lite level.

IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya are newer IIMs established under the Government of India's IIM expansion program. While they are newer than IIM Indore or Ahmedabad, they carry the IIM brand, which holds significant weight in placements. Their IPM programs are growing in reputation, and the IIM network and faculty quality make them excellent choices for students who qualify.

JIPMAT is generally considered slightly easier than IIM Indore's IPMAT because of the more generous time allocation (150 minutes for 100 questions vs 90 minutes) and slightly lower cut-offs due to the newer IIM status. However, the syllabus overlap is very high and students typically prepare for both exams simultaneously. The actual difficulty of individual questions is broadly similar.

After JIPMAT, shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview (PI) by the respective IIM. IIM Jammu also considers Class 10 and 12 academic performance in the composite score. The final merit list is based on JIPMAT score, PI performance, and academic record. IIM Bodh Gaya follows a similar process with PI as the final selection stage.
