Aligarh Muslim University Law Entrance Test

AMU Law entrance has 100 MCQ questions for 400 marks in 90 minutes. Marking: +4 correct, -1 wrong. Sections: General Awareness (25Q), English Language (25Q), General Knowledge (25Q), and Law Aptitude (25Q). Negative marking requires careful attempt strategy.

AMU Faculty of Law (established 1921) is one of India's oldest law schools. It offers BA LLB (5-year integrated), LLB (3-year), LLM, and PhD programmes. AMU Law graduates are prominent in Allahabad High Court, Supreme Court, and Muslim personal law practice.

For BA LLB (5-year): 12th pass with 45% marks and age not exceeding 20 years (25 for reserved). For LLB (3-year): Any graduate with 45% marks. AMU also has an Internal Qualifying Test for AMU students. Non-AMU students appear in the Open Selection Test.

AMU Law cutoffs (out of 400) for open merit vary around 220–280 marks for the 5-year BA LLB programme. AMU gives 50% preference to AMU internal students, so open category competition is for remaining 50% seats. Actual cutoffs depend on applicant pool strength.

AMU Law graduates often join the Allahabad High Court bar, practice in Muslim Personal Law matters, join civil services, appear for Uttar Pradesh judiciary exams, or pursue LLM at NLUs and foreign universities. AMU has strong alumni presence in UP/Bihar judiciary.
