The Coffee Board of India is a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, established under the Coffee Act 1942, with headquarters in Bengaluru. It promotes coffee cultivation, development, and export across major growing regions — Karnataka (Coorg, Chikmagalur, Hassan), Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and North-East India. Coffee Board Field Officers are Central Government employees in Group C or B cadre depending on the position, with pay scales in the Rs. 35,400–1,42,400 range. Field Officers are primarily posted to coffee growing districts of Karnataka (Coorg/Kodagu, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Mysuru), Kerala (Wayanad, Idukki), and Tamil Nadu (Nilgiris, Coimbatore). Some positions are based in North-East states where Coffee Board is promoting new coffee cultivation zones. The work involves regular field visits to coffee estates, nurseries, and processing units.

Beyond coffee-specific topics, the Agriculture & Horticulture section covers general plantation crop management (tea, rubber, cardamom, pepper), vegetable and fruit crop production relevant to coffee-growing regions, integrated pest management, principles of organic farming, post-harvest management, plant propagation techniques, greenhouse technology, and soil and water conservation.
