Major PSUs for GATE ECE include BSNL JTO, DRDO Scientist B, ISRO Electronics, BHEL Engineer Trainee, ONGC ET, Doordarshan, and many state electricity boards. BSNL recruits the largest number of ECE engineers.

For top PSUs like BSNL and ISRO, a GATE score above 600 (out of 1000) and rank within 500 is usually required. For state PSUs and lesser-known central PSUs, scores above 450-500 may be sufficient.

GATE ECE covers Network Theory, Electronic Devices, Analog Circuits, Digital Circuits, Signals & Systems, Control Systems, Communications, Electromagnetics, and Engineering Mathematics. Analog Circuits and Signals & Systems have high weightage.

Both GATE ECE and GATE CS are equally challenging but in different ways. ECE has more mathematical derivation-based questions while CS has more logic and algorithm-based questions. ECE cutoffs for IITs are slightly lower.

GATE ECE qualifiers can pursue MTech in VLSI Design, Communication Engineering, Signal Processing, Embedded Systems, RF & Microwave, and Photonics at IITs, NITs, and IISc.
