ICAR AIEEA UG (All India Entrance Examination for Admission – Undergraduate) is the national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Horticulture, B.F.Sc. Fisheries, B.Sc. Forestry, and B.V.Sc. & A.H. programmes at ICAR-funded agricultural universities across India. The exam offers access to premier institutions including the five ICAR Deemed Universities (IARI New Delhi, NDRI Karnal, CIFE Mumbai, IVRI Bareilly, NIFTEM Kundli) and State Agricultural Universities that offer seats on All India basis. A 15% quota from all seats in State Agricultural Universities is filled through ICAR AIEEA ranks.

ICAR AIEEA UG consists of 150 MCQs to be answered in 150 minutes. The marking scheme is +4 for correct and -1 for incorrect answers, making the total possible score 600 marks. The question paper has two sections: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB group) for agriculture and allied sciences programmes, and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM group) for agricultural engineering. Candidates must choose their group based on the programme they intend to apply for. NTA conducts the exam in CBT mode at centres across India.

The most sought-after institutes through ICAR AIEEA UG include the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi for B.Sc. Agriculture; National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal for B.Sc. Dairy Technology; Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai for B.F.Sc.; Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly for B.V.Sc. & A.H.; and state agricultural universities like TNAU Coimbatore, PAU Ludhiana, G.B. Pant University Pantnagar, and CCSHAU Hisar. These institutions have excellent research facilities, faculty, and placement opportunities.

ICAR AIEEA UG is considerably less competitive than NEET in terms of the number of applicants, with approximately 1–1.5 lakh candidates appearing vs. over 20 lakh for NEET. However, the quality competition is high as the exam attracts serious agriculture aspirants. The +4/-1 marking scheme makes the effective maximum score 600, and the cutoff for premier ICAR institutes like IARI typically falls above 450 marks in general category. The PCB syllabus significantly overlaps with NEET, making co-preparation effective for students considering both.

Students admitted to ICAR-funded Deemed Universities receive ICAR Junior Research Fellowships, which cover tuition fees and provide a monthly stipend of approximately Rs. 8,000–12,000 per month for B.Sc. meritorious students. Additional scholarships from state governments, SC/ST post-matric scholarship, and merit-cum-means scholarship are also available.
