IOCL OT earns a training stipend of ₹50,000–₹65,000 per month. After confirmation as Officer Grade A0/A1, the CTC is approximately ₹15–₹20 LPA including basic pay in IDA scale (₹60,000–₹1,80,000), DA, HRA, and perquisites. IOCL is one of the highest-paying Maharatna PSUs.

IOCL uses GATE scores for technical disciplines in most recruitment cycles. Candidates with valid GATE scores are shortlisted for Personal Interview directly. IOCL may also conduct its own written test for non-GATE disciplines. Check the current official notification for the applicable process.

IOCL primarily recruits from Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, Computers, and IT engineering disciplines. Chemical and Mechanical streams have the highest vacancies due to refinery operations. Finance and HR (MBA) posts are also included in some cycles.

IOCL officers follow the A0→A1→A2→A3→A4→B→C grade progression. With regular performance appraisals, officers can reach General Manager level (Grade C) within 20–25 years. IOCL also sponsors MBA programmes and provides deputation opportunities to subsidiaries and joint ventures.
