Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board Combined Services Examination

JKSSB Combined Services CBT has 100 objective questions in 120 minutes: General Studies (40Q), General English (30Q), and Reasoning & Mental Ability (30Q) with -0.25 negative marking. The examination is held online with strict anti-cheating protocols. There is no separate Mains for most posts — selection is direct based on CBT merit.

After the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019, candidates must have J&K domicile certificate to apply for JKSSB posts. The domicile certificate is issued to those who have resided in J&K for 15 years, or studied for 7 years in J&K, or children of central government employees posted in J&K, or registered migrants.

JKSSB Combined Services Group C posts fall under Pay Level 4-6 (Rs. 25,500-51,700 basic per month) under 7th Pay Commission as adopted in J&K UT. With DA, HRA, Special J&K Allowance, and cold weather allowance, the gross salary ranges from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 60,000 per month. Mountain posting in Ladakh region gets additional high altitude allowance.
