Cricket Theory covers technical aspects of batting, bowling (pace, spin, medium-fast), fielding, and wicketkeeping along with tactical knowledge of game situations, team formations, and match management. Coaching Methodology covers the GROW model, questioning techniques, athlete-centred coaching versus directive approaches, long-term athlete development (LTAD) framework applied to cricket, and designing practice sessions using deliberate practice principles. Candidates should understand how to develop talent identification programmes, manage diverse teams including junior, women's, and adaptive cricket players, and integrate technology tools like Hawkeye and Wagon Wheel into coaching feedback. Case study analysis of successful Indian cricket team strategies may feature in the exam.

NCA Level-2 certification qualifies coaches to apply for support staff roles with BCCI state associations, junior national teams, and domestic tournament squads including Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy teams. Many coaches use Level-2 as a stepping stone toward Level-3 (High Performance Coaching) which is required for Indian senior national team support staff positions.
