National Informatics Centre Technical Assistant (TA)

NIC Technical Assistants provide IT support and contribute to the development and maintenance of e-governance applications and infrastructure managed by the National Informatics Centre. Scientist-B carries a higher pay scale (Level-10, Rs. 56,100) compared to Technical Assistant (Level-7, Rs. 44,900). The NIC Technical Assistant CBT covers Computer Science Technical subjects including programming, data structures, operating systems, DBMS, computer networks, web technologies, and cyber security basics. The General Studies section includes current affairs, digital India policy, science & technology, and polity. The Mathematics section covers quantitative aptitude topics such as number systems, algebra, statistics, and data interpretation. Candidates should allocate roughly equal preparation time to technical and non-technical sections, as all sections contribute to the final merit.

The Mathematics section in NIC Technical Assistant exam focuses on applied quantitative aptitude rather than advanced mathematics. Important topics include number theory, percentages, ratio and proportion, simple and compound interest, averages, time and work, speed and distance, basic statistics, and data interpretation through tables and charts. Standard SSC-level mathematics preparation books are appropriate for this section. Practice with at least 500–600 questions across these topics under timed conditions to build the speed required for scoring well within the overall 120-minute duration.
