Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission Junior Clerk Exam

The OSSSC Junior Clerk exam is conducted online as a Computer Based Test (CBT) with 100 MCQ questions to be completed in 90 minutes. The five sections are General Knowledge, Odia Language, English Language, Basic Mathematics, and Reasoning. Each correct answer carries 1 mark; there is no negative marking. A computer proficiency test may also be conducted after the written exam.

Since Junior Clerks handle official correspondence and maintain records in Odia, proficiency in written and spoken Odia is essential. Candidates should study from Odisha Board Class IX–X Odia textbooks for grammar preparation.

Mathematics is at Class X level covering Number System, Simplification, Percentages, Ratio & Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit & Loss, Basic Algebra, Mensuration (area and perimeter), and Time & Work. Data Interpretation with tables and bar charts is also included. Candidates should focus on accuracy over speed since no negative marking makes attempted questions risk-free.

OSSSC Junior Clerk is one of the most sought-after state government positions in Odisha, attracting several lakh applicants for a few thousand vacancies. Cut-off scores are typically high, often above 75–80 out of 100 for unreserved category.
