Expert Preparation Tips
Physical Chemistry (quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, kinetics) is calculation-heavy — solve Atkins problems daily
Organic Chemistry mechanisms (SN1/SN2, elimination, rearrangements) need to be memorised and understood — not just rote learned
Spectroscopy (NMR, IR, Mass Spec) has predictable GATE questions — study the chemical shift tables and fragmentation patterns
Inorganic Chemistry (group theory, coordination compounds) is logic-based — master symmetry operations for molecular orbital questions
Do one spectroscopy problem daily (NMR+IR+MS combined structure elucidation) — it is the most predictable question type
