What is the MAHE entrance exam for engineering?

MAHE (Manipal Academy of Higher Education) conducts its own entrance test for BTech admissions to Manipal University campuses in Manipal, Jaipur, Dubai, and other locations. The exam is commonly called MET (Manipal Entrance Test). It covers Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge. Manipal University does not use JEE scores for its BTech admissions.

Through the MAHE entrance exam, candidates can join BTech programs in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Aerospace Engineering, and many more. MAHE also offers dual-degree and honours programs in collaboration with international partners. Medical admissions at Kasturba Medical College use NEET scores, not the MAHE entrance.

Is the MAHE entrance exam difficult?

The MAHE entrance exam is considered moderate in difficulty, similar to JEE Main Level 1. Questions are largely NCERT-based with application-level twists. Since there is no negative marking, candidates are encouraged to attempt all questions. Students who have prepared well for Class 12 boards and done some JEE Main practice are typically well-positioned for MAHE.

Can I get scholarship through MAHE entrance exam?

Yes, MAHE offers merit-based scholarships to top-ranking MET candidates. Scholarship amounts range from 25% to 100% fee waivers depending on rank band. Detailed scholarship criteria are published in the MAHE admissions brochure each year. In addition, MAHE provides need-based financial assistance and sports scholarships through separate channels.

Expert Preparation Tips

NCERT thorough reading for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is the single most important preparation step — most MAHE questions are NCERT-level.

The GK section in MAHE covers basic science GK, awareness of engineering and technology trends, and some static GK — maintain a weekly GK review habit.

No negative marking means a full attempt strategy — use the last 10–15 minutes to go back and answer every unattempted question with your best guess.

Attempt 10+ MAHE mock tests and also practice with VITEEE and SRMJEEE papers as they have very similar patterns and difficulty levels.
