What is the difference between REET Level 1 and Level 2?

REET Level 1 is for candidates who wish to teach Classes 1-5 (primary level) in Rajasthan government schools. Level 2 is for candidates aiming to teach Classes 6-8 (upper primary level). Level 1 requires D.El.Ed or equivalent diploma in elementary education, while Level 2 requires a Bachelor's degree with B.Ed. The subject-specific content in Level 2 is at graduation level, whereas Level 1 has primary level curriculum content. Both levels are now examined in the same REET exam on different days.

Is REET certificate valid forever in Rajasthan?

Yes, as per a Rajasthan government notification, REET certificate is now valid for the lifetime of the candidate. Earlier it had a 3-year or 7-year validity, but this was extended to lifetime validity to benefit qualified teachers who could not get government jobs due to limited vacancies. This means candidates who cleared previous REET exams do not need to re-appear. However, a new REET score may be needed if recruitment notification specifies a minimum score threshold.

What languages are available for Language I section in REET?

REET Language I section offers choices including Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, and Gujarati. Candidates should choose a language they are most comfortable with and which they intend to teach. Language I tests grammar, comprehension, literature, and teaching methodology specific to that language. The choice of language has no bearing on eligibility for general teaching posts but does affect language teacher posts.

How important is Child Development & Pedagogy in REET?

Child Development & Pedagogy carries 30 questions (30 marks) in both REET Level 1 and Level 2 and is common to all candidates. This section tests understanding of child growth and development theories, learning processes, inclusive education, and assessment. Piaget's stages of development, Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development, and National Curriculum Framework 2005 concepts are important. Rajasthan-specific educational policies and child rights frameworks may also appear.

Does clearing REET guarantee a government teacher job in Rajasthan?

No, clearing REET only makes you eligible to apply for Rajasthan government teacher recruitment — it does not guarantee appointment. After clearing REET, candidates must appear for the actual RPSC Grade II (Senior Teacher) or Grade III (Third Grade Teacher) recruitment exam. REET is a mandatory eligibility qualifier, similar to how CTET works for central government schools. The actual teacher appointment is based on the RPSC/RSMSSB recruitment exam scores and merit list.
