The UP ANM recruitment is conducted by the National Health Mission (NHM) Uttar Pradesh. The selection process typically involves a written OMR-based examination followed by document verification and a medical fitness check. No interview is generally conducted. Merit is determined purely on the basis of written exam marks, and postings are made to primary health centers, sub-centers, and community health centers across UP districts.

UP ANM posts under NHM are contractual positions with a consolidated monthly honorarium ranging from approximately ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 depending on posting location and years of service. These are renewable annual contracts. Permanent government ANM posts under state health services carry pay scale of Level 4 (₹25,500–₹81,100) with full government service benefits. The UP ANM recruitment exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 90 minutes. Each correct answer carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. This means candidates should attempt all questions and not leave any blank. The exam is conducted offline using OMR answer sheets. A total score of 100 marks is possible, and cutoffs typically range between 55–70 marks depending on the year and competition level.
