DSSSB TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) is the recruitment examination conducted by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board to appoint teachers in Delhi government schools under the Directorate of Education. Delhi government schools have witnessed significant modernisation with smart classrooms and improved infrastructure in recent years, making these posts highly competitive and desirable. The exam selects teachers for Classes VI to X in various subjects including Mathematics, Science, English, Social Studies, and Hindi.

DSSSB TGT has 200 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 120 minutes, making it one of the higher-volume teacher exams in terms of questions. Importantly, there is negative marking of -0.25 for every wrong answer, unlike most other teacher exams. The paper covers Subject Knowledge, General Studies, Reasoning, and English Language sections. Candidates must be strategic about attempting questions, skipping those they are unsure of, rather than guessing blindly.

Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject with 50% marks plus a B.Ed degree. CTET Paper-II qualification is mandatory. The upper age limit is 32 years with standard relaxations for reserved categories. While Delhi domicile is not always mandatory, preference is given to Delhi residents in some posts. Knowledge of Hindi and English is important since the exam includes a language section and Delhi schools teach in both mediums.

DSSSB TGT is comparably hard to KVS TGT but has the additional challenge of negative marking, which requires greater precision. DSSSB's 200-question format in just 120 minutes also demands much faster question-solving speed—roughly 36 seconds per question. KVS TGT allows 72 seconds per question. Both exams test subject knowledge at similar levels, but DSSSB has a larger Reasoning section, which requires dedicated preparation. Candidates often appear for both exams simultaneously as part of their teaching job strategy.

DSSSB TGT teachers in Delhi government schools draw a salary as per the 7th Pay Commission at Level 7 (approximately Rs. 44,900–1,42,400 per month) plus Delhi government allowances. The Delhi government also provides professional development training and merit-based promotions. Career progression from TGT to PGT and later to Vice-Principal and Principal is possible through departmental exams.
