Question 1

What is REAP and does it have a separate entrance exam?

Accepted Answer

REAP (Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process) is the centralised counselling process for BTech admissions to engineering colleges affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) and other technical universities in Rajasthan. Unlike most state engineering exams, REAP does NOT conduct a separate entrance test. Instead, it uses JEE Main scores for merit ranking and seat allocation. Students appearing for JEE Main automatically become eligible for REAP counselling using their JEE Main Paper 1 scores.

Question 2

How many engineering colleges and seats are available through REAP?

Accepted Answer

REAP provides access to over 1.5 lakh engineering seats across 200+ engineering colleges in Rajasthan, including both government and private institutions. Top institutions accessible through REAP include MNIT Jaipur (via JEE for NIT, but state quota via REAP), Government Engineering Colleges in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Kota, BITS Pilani (private, own admission process), and numerous private engineering colleges affiliated to RTU Kota. Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical are popular branches.

Question 3

What documents are required for REAP counselling?

Accepted Answer

For REAP counselling, students need JEE Main scorecard and admit card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, domicile certificate (for Rajasthan state quota), caste certificate (if applicable for reserved categories), character certificate, and passport-size photographs. Students must also pay the counselling registration fee online before the deadline. Rajasthan domicile is required for state quota seats, and students must obtain it from the appropriate district authority in advance.

Question 4

What JEE Main percentile is required to get a good college through REAP?

Accepted Answer

The JEE Main percentile required for REAP varies by college and branch. For top government engineering colleges in Rajasthan, a percentile of 80+ is generally needed for Computer Science and Electronics branches. For private colleges and less competitive branches like Civil and Mechanical, even a percentile of 40–50 may secure admission. Kota, being the hub of JEE coaching, produces many strong REAP candidates, making Rajasthan state quota competition relatively competitive compared to smaller states.

Question 5

Can students from other states apply through REAP counselling?

Accepted Answer

Yes, students from other states can apply for seats under the all-India or management quota in Rajasthan engineering colleges through REAP. However, the majority of seats (85% in government colleges) are reserved for Rajasthan domicile candidates. Out-of-state students must compete for the remaining open seats. Private colleges in Rajasthan often have a larger open quota, making them more accessible to non-Rajasthan students with valid JEE Main scores.
